Founded in 1985 as the Carrolton Chamber Orchestra, the name was later changed to Chamber Symphony of the Metrocrest.  Two years ago, the Board voted to adopt the name Texas Chamber Orchestra or "TCO."  The TCO is a non-profit, professional classical music ensemble that performs at more than 25 public events a year.  The Orchestra performs works drawn from the full range of the Western classical repertoire; music of the Baroque period to pieces by 20th Century composers.  The TCO presents a full season of subscription concerts in venues of Addison, Carrolton and Farmers Branch, providing the only opportunities for audiences to hear classical orchestral music in the Metrocrest.  In addition to this subscription series, TCO presents numerous free outreach events for adults and children in parks, schools and other venues throughout the Metrocrest.  Since 2000, the Orchestra has also served as the official orchestra for Ballet Arlington, the premier ballet troupe of North Texas.

The Musicians of the Texas Chamber Orchestra are among the finest in North Texas.  Many of them pursue parallel careers as soloists, principals of other orchestras, operas and chamber groups as well as teachers and professors at colleges and universities in the area.  The Orchestra consists of a core group of twenty string players and, depending on the repertoire, is augmented by soloists and other instrumentalists (winds, brass, percussion, keyboard) to a maximum of 65 musicians.
